AXIS WORK TRAIN CAPTURED BY US INVASION FORCE FRENCHMEN LIBERATED FROM ENEMY LABOR CAMPS

Combat Command Able soldiers settle in by the track. These soldiers fit the definition of "hurry up and wait", but also know the significance of the work ahead.

PARRISH, FLORIDA - A train leaving the coast of Normandy full of French
laborers, allied prisoners of war, and a German force was captured by members of
Combat Command Able in a head on assault led by Colonel Paul Casalese, USA.
Information provided by French resistance to the Office of Strategic Services gave
mention of high ranking General Von Kessinger of the Third Reich was aboard,
heading to Paris with his family and staff. Timing of the cpature could not have
been better, as the German force was in the last stages to execute civilians and
allied personnel.
PFC Daniel Gordon stated, "This (was awful)! Those (terrible) krauts were thicker
than mashed potatoes on corn bread. All of these Frenchies were just standing out
in the field, and they were gonna get shot. About then I reckoned I heard this song
God Bless America and I knew we had to do something real quick. If we wasn't
here, alot of innocent people wouldn't have made it! (Terrible) krauts!"
General Von Kessinger and his staff, along with U-Boat captain Magnamaritz
carrying documents related to the Enigma code, were rounded up and escorted by
the Military Police back to Normandy.
On arrival back to the town,French citizens were liberated and escorted to a safe
zone off the train. The German command in the area had restrengthened and
demanded the unconditional surrender of Combat Command Able. However,
Colonel Casalese drew his pistol early for a reply, opening up a battle at the main
depot with heavy casualties on both sides. However, when the smoke cleared, The
Allied force was still standing, and the French citizens remained free to travel about
their homes once again, without the oppression of the German Wehrmacht.

FLORALA, ALABAMA- The allied command, after
a long hard advance into enemy lines, successfully
pushed the German army further away from the
Normandy coastline, liberating northern France from
Axis tyranny. In what the allied command deemed
OPERATION COBRA, American, British, Canadian,
and French troops were able to penetrate the Bocage,
or land consisting of a thick terrain mixed in
hedgerows, woodland, and pasture. Fighting in close
quarters, both axis and allied forces were subjected to
many losses.
"This was not an easy fight," stated TSgt Sam Howell
of the 2nd Ranger Battalion. "We suffered many
casualties, all of them good men. The (Germans) were
everywhere- I could smell them, must not have
washed in months. They were in there, thick as
Alabama barbeque. But we adapted and we pulled
through. That's what we do."
Under the command of LTC Scott Campbell, the allied
force was able to capture enemy fuel depots,
decapitate axis communication including a major
R.A.D.A.R. station, and capture the town of St Lo.
All this was done despite brutal and savage
counterattacks by the occupied enemy. "The enemy
had a really, really good chance to take us, but
failed,"states Sgt Skip Stern. "They had the firepower,
and the numbers, but didn't get close to meeting the
objectives of capturing our ammo and fuel depots.
But they did have some pretty uniforms. I'll give them
that."
"Yes, the German and vicchy forces did have many
advantages, but were incapable of taking objective,
chiefly that our boys had them busy trying to hold
their defenses and weren't concerned about reaching
our supplies", declares Lt Durshimer. " We looked
damned good and I am proud of these men."

ENEMY CAPTURED ON ROADSIDE States he wanted to "just go home"

More and more Germans are becoming disenchanted
with the "uber alles" theory. These two Luftwaffe
soldats are studying the guidebook, "How to become
an American Citizen" .
It appears more and more likely the German war machine
is grinding to a peaceful halt from the inside out. Last
week there were rumors of an assassination attempt on
Adolph Hitler by some of his senior officers. This unrest
in enemy headquarters is a welcome sign, but not only by
the Allied Command at SCHAEF, but apparently to
members of the Wehrmacht as well.
More and more enemy forces are laying down arms and
walking away from the front lines into American hands.
In the hedgerows of Normandy and the Crozon
Peninsula, German soldiers are surrendering in massive
amounts, seeking asylum from their former government.
"Es ist brutal geworden," states one soldat, who wishes
to remain anonymous in the case that Germany should
prevail on Europe. He speaks of the horrors of the front
line units, and how they have become 'misdirected' in
regards to the future of the Fatherland. He states how
things have gotten progressively worse, and how
Germans are whipping the backsides of their fellow men,
"just for the curiosity of how it feels. I admit, I have no
longer any confidence in the Third Reich. Wunde
Verlierer should be their name. Or Betrunkene fröhliche
Männer."
As the surrendering German gave up his Mauser, he
looked into the sky and broke into song, singing
something about Edleweiss. With a little hope, we can
expect more of the enemy to lay down their arms so the
entire world can breathe a little easier.
